Moore's first leading role was as a lead actress in Safe (1995). Steven Spielberg, who was the director for Jurassic Park: The Lost World in 1997, one of the highest grossing films, had Moore cast as the lead actress. In 1999, she appeared in the critically acclaimed Magnolia and earned an SAG Award nomination in recognition of her work. In 2002, she co-starred with The Hours which got nominated for nine Academy Awards with Nicole Kidman as well as Meryl Streep. Her other films comprise The Forgotten 2004 Freedomland 2006.
